When in-store, your devices use a local network to communicate, and must be connected to your Crisp network to function properly.
Remote connections allow you to run business away from your store, without being connected to your local network.
To take payments using remote connections you will need an NYC-1 payment device from Crisp. This device uses bluetooth, rather than your local network, to communicate with your iPad. Currently, only one remote device can be used to take payments while using remote connections. (Payments in store are unaffected)
Can this be used with any tablet?
Yes, however, in order to take payments you will need an NYC-1 payment device which are only compatible with iOS Devices. You can use android or windows tablets as KDS/Expo screens with remote connections.
