The Crisp system currently has 5 types of modifiers you can create and use!

Default Modifiers - These are regular modifiers that affect a product's recipe, and may affect the product's price. Pre-selected default modifiers will not display on KDS screens or kitchen tickets.

Size Modifiers - These determine a product's size, and may affect the product's price. Size modifiers will always display on KDS screens and kitchen tickets.

Discount Modifiers - These affect a product's price only. Discount modifiers will not display on KDS screens or kitchen tickets.

Tags - A tag is merely a piece of text that includes extra instructions for a product's preparation (ex. 'Lite' or 'On the side'). A tag does not affect a product's recipe or price. A tag will be displayed on KDS screens and kitchen tickets.

Modifier Groups - These simply house the individual modifiers. Assigning modifiers to modifier groups allow you to group them to better organize the modifiers on your POS. Modifiers must be assigned to a modifier group before they can appear on your POS.

Creating and assigning modifiers of all types can be done in 3 overall steps! These steps can be used to create any type of modifier.

First, you'll need to create the modifiers themselves:
  1. In the backend, click Settings, then Modifiers
  2. Under the modifier section of the type of modifier you'd like to create, click the big + button
  3. Create the name for the modifier
  4. Under 'Price Type' and 'Price', select whether this discount modifier will ADD to the product's price, MULTIPLY the product's price, or create a FIXED price for the product, and then enter the amount.
  5. Click 'Save'

Second, you'll need to create a modifier group and assign the previously created discounts to this group. This is what will house the discount modifier buttons:
  1. In the backend, click Settings, then Modifiers
  2. Under the 'Item Discounts' section, click the big + button
  3. Create the name of this modifier group (ex. "Saturday Promotion")
  4. In the 'Sub Modifiers' box, find the discounts you created earlier. Click on them, then click 'add' to move it from the left box to the right box. Repeat this for all discounts that belong in this modifier group
  5. Click 'Save'

Third, you'll need to assign the modifier group to the products it can be applied to:

To assign the modifier group to an entire category:

  1. In the backend, click Settings, then Categories
  2. Click the category you'd like to assign the modifier group to
  3. Under 'Category Modifiers', click the big + button
  4. Under 'Modifier', click the Modifier Group you previously created
  5. Click 'Save'

To assign the modifier group to individual products:

  1. In the backend, click Settings, then Products
  2. Click the product you'd like to assign the modifier group to
  3. Under 'Product Modifiers', click the big + button
  4. Under 'Modifier', click the Modifier Group you previously created
  5. Click 'Save'
